WIRES Giving Day raises funds to feed the influx of Spring and Summer rescues
Thursday, September 5, 2024
Spring and Summer are WIRES’ busiest times of year with the influx of orphaned, injured and displaced young native animals in need of rescue. This year WIRES is reaching out to the wider community and asking them to please dig deep and help feed all the hungry mouths by donating to the WIRES Giving Day on Thursday 26th September.
In the last year it cost over $480,000 for WIRES to supply the food needed to rehabilitate native wildlife that came into care – and every year the number of animals is increasing.
Many of these animals are already facing ongoing challenges ranging from habitat loss, extreme weather events and road trauma - and we know from the 150,000 calls we receive annually for rescue and advice that the community really does cares and wants to help.
The WIRES GIVING Day presents an ideal opportunity for everyone to help provide our rescued native animals with the specialized food and care they need to give them a second chance of life back in their natural habitat. All donations will be used to support food costs and help ensure carers continue to deliver the very best of care.
And the great news is that donations on the day will be DOUBLED up to a total threshold of $90,0000 by WIRES' Wildlife Food Partner Woolworths, and a group of generous donors.
