Walk on the Wild Side this April
Monday, March 17, 2025
Walk on the Wild Side is a fun challenge that invites participants to walk either 50km, 100km, or 150km throughout the month of April and ask friends and family to sponsor their challenge.
By choosing the challenge that’s right for them (participants can also choose their own distance) and offering the flexibility to complete their challenge throughout the whole month of April, this free event is a great opportunity for people to increase their health and fitness, whilst actively helping protect and safeguard Australia’s wild places and the species who inhabit them.

How to Walk on the Wild Side this April
Participants are encouraged to sign up www.walkonthewildside.org.au as soon as possible so they are equipped and ready to start logging their kilometres on Tuesday 01 April 2025, when the challenge begins. So far, more than 1,000 people have signed up!
Participants choose either the WILD challenge of 50km, the WILDER challenge of 100km or the WILDEST challenge of walking 150km throughout the month of April! They can also choose their own distance.
Supporting vulnerable native animals
After creating their personal Walk on the Wild Side page, participants are encouraged to share their page with their community, family and friends to help raise vital funds to provide orphaned and injured native animals with emergency rescue and long term, dedicated care.
Funds raised from the challenge will help keep WIRES Wildlife Rescue Office open 24 hours a day, resource full-time Wildlife Emergency Responders and Wildlife Ambulances, and support the thousands of WIRES volunteers rehabilitating native animals in their care.

Free, flexible and fun!
The Challenge has been created to be flexible, allowing participants to complete their distances whenever it suits them, throughout the month of April.
It is also fun, with a range of unique virtual badges and rewards which will light up on a participant’s page as they reach their fitness and fundraising goals.
For example, $30 awards you a Possum Protector virtual badge, whilst $240 makes you a Lizard Legend.
Thanks to WIRES Corporate Partners, people who register before Monday 31 March will also be in the running (be entered into a free-prize draw,) to win one of three prize packs worth $300 each.

If you’d like to join a new online community as passionate about protecting wildlife as you are, please sign up on www.walkonthewildside.org.au
Together we will make a life-saving difference for Aussie wildlife in need (this April!)
