Wedge-tailed Eagle rescued in western Sydney

WIRES is often called to rescue juvenile animals that have found themselves in difficult situations.
Last week it was this young wedge-tailed eagle that had to be rescued at Horsley Park in Sydney's west. Wedge-tailed eagles are Australia's largest bird of prey.
It is believed he had hit the power lines. He had a gouge out of his beak and feather damage indicating he may have been on the ground for some time before being found.
He is in care with one of our specialist raptor carers who also has two other wedge-tailed eagles rehabilitating in her aviary at the moment.
