I am not a kangaroo!
Friday, January 1, 2021
We received a call from a concerned home-owner who found this little guy on a shelf while clearing out their shed on one of the hottest days of the year. They initially thought he was a kangaroo joey due to the size of his feet, but it was soon determined that he was, in fact, a juvenile brushtail possum.
It is unclear as to why he was abandoned, or how he came to be in the shed, but he was in poor shape and severely dehydrated from the heat, and it was not known how long he had been there without food.
He went into care of one of our specialised possum carers, he was nursed back to health and raised until he was old enough to be released. After approximately 7 months in care, he was successfully released at East Kurrajong.
